SAN DIEGO — Several people suspected of shoplifting at an Ulta Beauty store in North County were detained after a pursuit on southbound Interstate 15 Thursday afternoon, police said.
The pursuit started in the 11400 block of Carmel Mountain Road and came to an end in the Mission Valley area near the Interstate 8 onramp.
SkyFOX was over the scene where San Diego police initially pulled over the vehicle with the suspected shoplifters when one of the occupants got out of the car and gave themselves up to officers. As they were being detained, the car abruptly took off from police and officers began to chase the vehicle.
Police were able to pull over the car a second time when another person got out of the car and started to run, hopping the I-15 barrier and crossing northbound traffic. The individual made it to the brush, where several officers were able to tackle and detain them.
At the location where the car was pulled over, a third person got out of the vehicle and surrendered to police.
Shortly after, at least two others were also detained by police when officers surrounded the vehicle.
